At the International Music Day celebration on 1 October, the Sound Art Endowment of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia and the Estonian Music Council honoured outstanding musicians whose work has enriched Estonia’s musical landscape.

Among this year’s recipients were several notable jazz artists and organisers.

The Sound Art Endowment Recognition Award for long-term contribution to the development of Estonian jazz and for organising the beloved Sõru Jazz Festival, appreciated by both audiences and musicians, was presented to Pille Lukin and Guido Kangur. The Sound Art Endowment Annual Awards were given to artists well known from Estonia’s jazz stages: Liisi Koikson – for her versatile concert activity; Tuulikki Bartosik – for a diverse and internationally far-reaching concert year in various ensembles; and Vaiko Eplik – for a prolific creative year and for advancing Estonian- language repertoire.
