For the seventh consecutive year, the Estonian Jazz Union’s stage is at Triigi Philharmonic Hall!
At the final concert of Triigi’s concert season, we are delighted to welcome Finnish saxophonist Heli Hartikainen, while Estonia will be represented by the ensemble ITIRA, featuring Peedu Kass, Villu Talsi and Simone Minni.
Heli Hartikainen (Finland) is an award-winning saxophonist, clarinettist, composer, and sound artist whose work blends experimental sonic textures with hypnotic soundscapes. As a saxophonist, Hartikainen is a passionate instrumentalist dedicated to constantly pushing the boundaries of both her instrument and her own artistic expression.
Her debut solo album, Chronovariations, which incorporates contemporary sound technologies, received the Finnish Critics’ Association’s Kritiikin Kannukset Award for Outstanding Artistic Achievement in 2025. The album was also nominated for the Emma Awards in 2024 in the category of Best Jazz Album. Hartikainen studied both clarinet and saxophone, as well as classical music, jazz, folk music, and improvisation, graduating from the Sibelius Academy. During her studies, she focused on historical improvisation practices and the aesthetics of repetition in Finnish folk music while deepening her expertise in electroacoustic music, spatial sound, and live electronics.
She has performed at renowned festivals including Flow Festival, Ung Nordisk Musik, Nordic Music Days, and Tallinn Music Week.
ITIRA brings together four masters from different musical backgrounds – Peedu Kass, Villu Talsi and Simone Minni – whose collaboration creates a virtuosic musical language that transcends genres. Their music intertwines poetic improvisation, classical precision, and a contemporary approach to tradition. This melodically captivating quartet has already attracted international attention at the WOMEX world music expo, fusing Nordic minimalism with global eclecticism into a fresh, genre-defying sound that enriches the Estonian music scene with an entirely new sonic landscape. In spring 2026, the ensemble released its debut album, New Chapter, which was presented at the Jazzkaar Festival.
