Matthew Hyde is a British double bass player and a composer. He came to Estonia in 2009
and while working in a totally different area, he found his way back to music. He began
studying at the Estonian Academy of Music and Art in 2014. Now, Matthew Hyde lives
permanently in Estonia and collaborates with different musicians.
His music is inspired by his own life in Estonia during the last three years. The musician is
also influenced by the jazz classics, such as by the music of Wayne Shorter, Charles Mingus,
and Dave Holland. In his work, Matthew values clarity, melody, rhythmic excitement, and the
traditional form of music.
