Matthew Hyde is a British double bass player and a composer who came to Estonia in 2009.
While working in a totally different area, he finally found his way back to music and began
studying at the Estonian Academy of Music and Art in 2014. Today, Matthew Hyde lives
permanently in Estonia and collaborates with different musicians. In 2017, the album Nordic
Blues was released, it includes his own original work.
Matthew Hyde’s music is inspired by his own life in Estonia during the last three years. His
music has been influenced by jazz classics like Wayne Shorter, Charles Mingus, and Dave
Holland. In his work, Matthew values clarity, melody, rhythmic excitement, and the
traditional form of music.
