The “Ajaväli” concert was completed to mark the 100th anniversary of Estonia and depicts the course of this country over a century – and indeed throughout history in general – stressing that in the face of many complex events, Estonians have always found joy. It is a joy for life, the sun, forest, land and loved ones, for their language and culture, and for a century now, for their country. Under the leadership of Raun Juurikas, a master of soundscapes, the project focuses on a selection of songs by Estonian composers filled with joy and warmth throughout times that show the sunny side of domestic music culture. The line-up also includes the beloved singer Liisi Koikson, the cool guitar virtuoso Andre Maaker, the capable double bassist Peedu Kass, and the outstanding young percussionist Martin Petermann. The songs have been arranged with a nice touch of jazz by Raun Juurikas, the multitalented expert of the world of keyboards and electronics, and in one way or another they have been associated with the song festival, with popular songs such as ” Ta lendab mesipuu poole” (He Flies Towards the Beehive), “Ei saa mitte vaiki olla” (How Can I Be Silent), and so on. The concert has previously been performed at the IDeeJazz Festival and at the Jazz Song Festival concert tour. dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the Estonian Song Festival.
