Marti Tärn comes from Tallinn. He started his musical studies learning piano in a children's music school. After a temporary loss of interest he chose to study double bass and bass guitar. In 2002 he started studying jazz music at the Tartu University Viljandi Cultural Academy. Around that time he played in a band called 4Tune Quartet with Erki Pärnoja, Virgo Sillamaa and Reigo Ahven. Currently he is playing both double bass and electric bass.

Marti Tärn has studied at the Helsinki Ammattikorkeakoulu Stadia in Finland (2005-2006) and Skurups Folkhögskola in Sweden (2007-2008). Since fall 2008 he is studying at the Stockholm Royal Academy of Music.

Marti has also been working as a teacher at the Viljandi Music School, Saue Music School and Tartu University Viljandi Cultural Academy. He is organizing the Kuressaare guitar camp with Andre Maaker and Tiit Paulus.
