Estonian Jazz Union at summer jazz festivals
The Estonian Jazz Union is going to three jazz festivals this summer – Sõru Jazz, Juu Jääb and Võsu Jazz.
At the summery jazz festivals, the Estonian Jazz Union will be presenting some outstanding performers and formations from the Estonian jazz scene: a young pianist Holger Marjamaa at Sõru Jazz, a young pianist Kirke Karja’s quartet at Juu Jääb, and a talented guitar player Andre Maaker at Võsu Jazz.
Sõru Jazz will take place in Hiiumaa from 15 to 18 June, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. The festival is known for its programme which always gathers the most outstanding Estonian jazz formations. Holger Marjamaa will be performing at Sõrve harbour boathouse on Sunday, 18 June at 3.30 PM.
Juu Jääb will take place on Muhu island from 27 June to 2 July. Jazz singer China Moses has called Juu Jääb as the Woodstock of Estonia! Kirke Karja Kvartett will be performing on Friday, 30 June, at 8 PM.
Võsu Jazz will take place in Võsu from 14 to 15 July. One of the youngest jazz festivals in Estonia stands out for its particular conception: namely, for the second year already, the festival will send its performers on the stages in the gardens of the inhabitants of Võsu. Andre Maaker will be performing at the festival on Saturday, 15 July at 8 PM.
